Social Learning draws on an innovative combination of several therapeutic tools and approaches, including “Social Thinking”® (developed by Michelle Winner). This internationally recognized model is so effective because instead of a more skill based approach, “Social Thinking” (a user-friendly term for social cognition), explores the thinking behind these skills. This allows students to truly grasp the “why” rather than just the response, leading to deeper understanding and better generalization. Due to the fact that this approach is grounded heavily in language, it is most appropriate for students with average to strong verbal skills.
